Also included is genealogical information concerning the Wilkes family. Charles Wilkes was born ca. 1859 in Allegan County, Michigan, one of five children of Charles and Charlotte Wilkes. He became a practicing lawyer in Allegan County, specializing in business and financial matters, and served as Allegan County prosecuting attorney from 1885 to 1889. Wilkes was married to Bertha Pritchard.
